MPLS Service Provider Checklist

SD-WAN Alistair Scott
MPLS Service Provider Checklist

Do you run an MPLS network to connect to your various branches?

If so, you are likely wasting MPLS bandwidth backhauling Internet traffic.

For many organisations in South Africa, a lot of their traffic is becoming internet bound due to increased cloud usage for cloud based applications like Office365, Microsoft SharePoint and Salesforce.
Backhauling traffic over expensive MPLS services adds latency and puts pressure on the already limited MPLS network capacity.

If you are about to renew your MPLS contract or add additional capacity to your MPLS network, you are likely to be facing a hefty bill from your service provider. One way to reduce your MPLS spend is to use Internet based connectivity (Fibre, Broadband or LTE) to augment or replace your MPLS-based WAN.

Organisations often ask whether they can switch their dedicated, expensive MPLS network to an Internet- based network and continue to sustain their service levels to the business, cut costs and improve overall agility and flexibility of the network.

This e-Book provides a checklist to help answer this question by examining the various pros and cons of different approaches to managing your WAN.
